Exciting News: Karen Hartley-Nagle Appointed to Key NACo Committees

I am thrilled to share some exciting news with you all! Today, I received a letter from the President of the National Association of Counties (NACo), James Gore, appointing me to several prestigious committees. This appointment is a testament to our collective work and dedication to making New Castle County a better place for all its residents.

Appointments and Committees

As the President of New Castle County Council and a candidate for New Castle County Executive, I am honored to be selected for the following NACo committees:

  • Arts and Culture Commission: This commission will allow us to further integrate arts and culture into our community development initiatives, enhancing the quality of life for all residents.

  • Healthy Counties Advisory Board: This board is dedicated to improving public health across counties, ensuring that we have the best resources and strategies to support our residents' well-being.

  • International Economic Development Task Force: By being a part of this task force, we can explore new economic opportunities and partnerships on an international scale, benefiting our local economy.

  • Large Urban County Caucus (LUCC): This caucus focuses on the unique challenges and opportunities faced by large urban counties. Our participation will ensure that New Castle County's voice is heard in this crucial dialogue.

Our Collective Strength

James Gore’s letter emphasized that the strength of NACo lies in its members. I am proud to represent New Castle County in these capacities, bringing our experiences, challenges, and successes to the national stage. Our active involvement and leadership will contribute to NACo's mission of being the voice of America's counties.

Marching Towards the Future

As we march towards our 250th anniversary, NACo's theme this year, "We the People, We the Counties, We the Leaders, We the Future," resonates deeply with me. This theme reminds us that our strength comes from our unity and our collective efforts to build a brighter future for all.

NACo will deploy resources to research, assess, and highlight the best emerging practices from counties across the nation. I am eager to contribute to these efforts, bringing innovative ideas and proven strategies from New Castle County to the forefront.

Upcoming NACo Events

I look forward to engaging with my fellow committee members at the upcoming NACo Legislative Conference from March 1-4, 2025, in Washington, D.C., and the NACo Annual Conference from July 11-14, 2025, in Philadelphia, Pa. These events will be invaluable opportunities to collaborate, learn, and share our successes.

Commitment to Our Community

I am committed to leveraging these new roles to benefit New Castle County. From promoting arts and culture to advancing public health, driving economic development, and addressing the unique needs of large urban counties, our work on these committees will have a direct impact on our community.

Thank you for your continued support and trust. Together, we will continue to make New Castle County the best place to live, work, and thrive.
